Taste What's Behind The Name

Have you ever wondered how some coffee retailers came up with the name for their shops? In some cases, as with company owned outlets, it's rather generic following the company identify. With today's example, you get a little of both.
On a recent trip to the island of Oahu, we found a great coffee outlet called KONA Coffee Purveyors. The taste of their coffee is an unique as their name. Recently, the coffee beans were offered online. Most likely, that was due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the 90% drop in tourism for Hawaii. Nevertheless, it's s golden opportunity for you to taste their coffee without the long trip to the islands. They offer several blends with notes of this and that. Have you ever wondered why they call them "notes" instead of flavors? Me, too. But, a flavored coffee has a long-lasting after taste, while a "note" leaves a subtle sensation that reminds you of another food.
My personal favorite is Konawaena Estate, with notes of honey, macadamia and milk chocolate. But, others may suit your taste buds better. I love experimenting with new coffees. That's one of the things that led me to this blog. Frequently, I experiment with the strength of the coffee. In this case, I found that adding an additional 20-25% of the recommended amount was more to my liking. However, my wife and I generally prefer a darker roast of coffee. This is closer to a medium roast. So, to make the cup a bit more robust, we added an extra scoop before grinding. Voilà! That's a French word, not to be confused with French roast. But, the extra scoop made it taste superb.
So, give KONA Coffee Purveyors a try and let me know what you think. In fact, I'm always open to your comments and suggestions on everything from topics to choices. There is a link to contacting me on this page.
